Cultural Care Training

The Cultural Care Training program designed for Equality Health Network providers and their ancillary staff helps raise awareness about the unique values within diverse communities and provides principles that enhance access, utilization, delivery and engagement. The training provides education on cultural competence and culturally congruent approaches, which influence prescription adherence, help reduce unnecessary healthcare costs, increase patient satisfaction and improve chronic disease self-management.

Module 1: Culturally Competent Patient-Centered Care

This module reviews demographics and cultural attitudes toward health and utilization, as well as health conditions and current state of health in Arizona’s Latino community, culturally effective patient-centered care, culturally effective care management and coordination, and patient-centered care planning and management.

Module 2: Population Health Management, Social Determinants of Health and Mobile Technologies

This module elevates the profile of socioeconomic determinants of health and community risk factors on Latino health disparities, the role of providers when supplying culturally effective population health management, Equality Health's sociocultural risk assessment and community resource platform for linking patients to community-based services, and self-management of patients with complex chronic illness using information tools and mobile applications.

Module 3: Integrating Behavioral Health Into the Primary Care Practice

This module reviews mental health conditions and behavioral healthcare needs of the Latino community by integrating models of care for patients with chronic illness and mental health conditions, as well as managing and coordinating the care of patients with chronic illness and behavioral health needs.

Module 4: Customer-Centric Principles in Medical Care for Diverse Populations

This module describes why providing customer-centric care to diverse populations can be helpful to your practice and create a welcoming environment for multicultural communities.

Module 5: Culturally Sensitive Trauma-Informed Care

This module covers the impact of trauma on health, the impact of trauma on different cultures and practical ways to become a trauma-informed organization.

Module 6: How Motivational Interviewing Impacts Primary Care Practices

This module provides the principles, key components and basic processes of Motivational Interviewing, insight into how Motivational Interviewing benefits primary care practices and ways to implement it into primary care and ensure Motivational Interviewing among Latinos and other cultures is culturally informed.
